Little Koala

I was sketching koalas and decided to create a new ACEO card:

Sketchbook

Just thought I’d post some sketches I’ve been working on lately. I would really like to be part of a Sketchbook/Moleskine Exchange – where you start a sketchbook and pass it back and forth between members of a group, once the book is full they ship it back to you.

I’ve been following a few blogs about it, and I emailed one of the people to see if I could get in on it. Please let me know if you are part of a group, or thinking about starting one. It’s really sad when people aren’t dedicated to it, though, and it falls apart, so I only want to do it with people who are prepared to finish strong. :)

Oh…and for those of you who didn’t know – today is Pancake Day. I heard it on Twitter (follow me: @ALMIart). Thanks for all the comments I’ve been getting lately!

A Melancholy Day

A new illustration for the Monday Artday contest subject – Melancholy:

One of those days, where even the most active owls run out of plans.

No Time Like Play Time

I’ve been playing with mixed-media overlays of my drawings on other backgrounds:

Gertrude
After working on Gertrude I decided to work on another owl with a different method and medium. As much as I loooove my owls, I also enjoy realism with a touch of whimsy like my Itzhak Perlman. So here’s my colored pencil version of a barn owl:

“When I go to farms or little towns, I am always surprised at the discontent I find. And New York, too often, has looked across the sea toward Europe. And all of us who turn our eyes away from what we have are missing life.”  – Norman Rockwell
